ALS Skills Competency (***CURRENT *** PrideStar Trinity EMS Employees Only)

PrideStar Trinity EMS ALS Competency is required by our Medical Director AND must be completed every two years for all AEMTs and Paramedics working in their respective roles.  AEMTs and Paramedics WILL NOT receive authorization to renew their NREMT to practice from our Medical Director until ALS competency is complete and all paperwork has been turned in.  The Director of Clinical Services will review and sign off that ALS competency has been completed.

ALS Competency is a 2 hour practical skill session of HALO events and common practices and protocols:

  1. Zoll X-Series (Monitor, Defibrillator, Pacemaker, Capnography)
  2. Acquisition & Transmission of 12 Lead EKG
  3. Video Laryngoscope & Intubation
  4. LUCAS Automatic Chest Decompression Device
  5. AIRQSP3g SU (Backup Airway)
  6. Needle Cricothyrotomy
  7. EZ IO
  8. Morgan Lens
  9. Needle Decompression Device
  10. CPAP/BIPAP
  11. IV Warmer Policy/Procedure
  12. Narcotics Policy/Procedure
  13. Successful MEGACODE Completion
  14. 6.10 Withholding and Cessation of Resuscitation & 7.5 Refusals
  15. IV Pump Scenario
  16. Vent Scenario
