The American Heart Association Instructor Renewal course is designed for current  PRIDEStar/Trinity EMS AFFILIATED BLS instructors who need to renew their instructor status. This course is a review of the latest AHA guidelines and includes updates to instructional techniques and materials.

The course is a combination of online and classroom instruction, with the online portion covering the cognitive portion of the course and the classroom portion allowing participants to practice and demonstrate their skills under the guidance of an AHA instructor.

Participants will review the principles of effective instruction, including lesson planning, delivery techniques, and evaluation methods. They will also learn about the latest AHA guidelines for CPR, first aid, and advanced cardiovascular care.

Upon completion of this course, participants will receive an AHA Instructor renewal certificate, which is valid for two years.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the latest AHA guidelines for CPR, first aid, and advanced cardiovascular care.
2. Apply the principles of effective instruction, including lesson planning, delivery techniques, and evaluation methods.
3. Identify the steps involved in conducting a skills practice and testing session.
4. Demonstrate effective communication and feedback skills when providing instruction.
5. Describe the steps involved in managing classroom dynamics and addressing common instructor challenges.
6. Identify resources available to support instructors in their teaching.

Prerequisites: To participate in the AHA Instructor Renewal Course, participants must hold a current AHA instructor certification in the discipline they wish to renew (BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.).

Target Audience: This course is designed for current AHA instructors who need to renew their instructor status.

Course Length: The AHA Instructor Renewal Course is typically completed in one day, with a total course length of approximately 3 hours. The exact course length may vary depending on the size of the class and the Training Center's schedule and availability.

Note: Participants are required to complete the online portion of the course before attending the classroom portion.
